Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed, blonde-haired woman with an exuberant personality. Meg Ryan was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan), she was an English teacher, and also a one-time actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. Her family heritage includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish as well as German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname "Ryan" is her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Meg graduated in June 1979 from Bethel high school, Bethel. Meg moved to New York and majored as journalist at New York University. Meg Ryan was her new name, and she started acting to earn a little extra cash as she finished her education. She made her screen debut in 1981 with a short appearance as Candice Bergen’s daughter in George Cukor’s final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the character of Betsy in the television soap As the World Turns (1956) after she auditioned. From 1982 to 1984, she was part of the ensemble. Meg was also a part of the TV show One of the Boys (1982), which was quickly removed. She moved to Hollywood in 1984 and was offered an offer to appear on the western TV series Wildside (1985). Meg was a small part in Top Gun (1986), which led to her casting in Steven Spielberg’s Innerspace (1987) where she starred alongside Dennis Quaid. In the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Dennis Quaid. (1988) and they married on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg made an appearance in the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the restaurant scene was made famous. Meg was nominated for the Golden Globe as well as the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, Meg starred with Tom in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg took a stand against the grain in 1994 when she portrayed the role of Meg's wife who is an alcoholic and motherin "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994). After that, Meg returned to her "cute" I.Q. (1994) as well as French Kiss (1995). The year 1994 was the year that Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year" and was voted as one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world in 1994" by People Magazine.
