Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th of November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay (Gale), an RN and Lance Frederick McAdams who is an auto driver and furniture moving. Rachel is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel started acting at the age of thirteen. She was already appearing in Shakespearean plays in summer theater camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater. Following her first appearance in an episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) She was a co-star in the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows (2003) A comedy-drama about the trials and travails of the Shakespearean theater troupe, and won an Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her debut role as Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly brought her to the top of the list of the top Hollywood's young actors. McAdams also stars alongside Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace in Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma's film thriller.
